SALT PUCK · UPDATED OCTOBER 14, 2026

Terms of sale & use

These terms cover Salt Puck orders, devices, accounts, and online services. Please read them before ordering or creating an account. They preserve rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer law.

Ordering and payment

Salt Puck costs $79.99 per unit, in US dollars. Submit accurate contact and shipping details, then continue to secure checkout with your selected available payment provider, Stripe or Shopify, to review the complete total, including shipping and applicable tax, before authorizing payment. An order reference or checkout redirect acknowledges receipt, not payment. Payment is confirmed after verification from the selected payment provider. We may also provide a private payment link for an existing order. We accept the sale when we confirm your order and payment.

We may decline orders we cannot fulfill or that appear fraudulent, duplicate, or outside our supported shipping area, and will notify you using the details provided. We will not substitute a higher price or charge additional amounts without your agreement. Current online orders support US addresses. For more than ten units or another destination, contact us. Do not put card details in order fields, email, text messages, or support messages; enter payment details only in the selected provider’s secure checkout.

Shipping: 1–3 days from order

We ship within 1–3 calendar days from your order submission. This is the time to dispatch, not a promise of delivery within 1–3 days. Complete payment at checkout before dispatch. Accurate shipping information and completion of the agreed payment are necessary to ship.

If payment remains pending, inventory is unavailable, or another issue prevents shipping within the stated window, we will notify you, provide a revised shipping date, and give you the choice to agree to the delay or cancel. We will obtain consent to a delay where required; if the order is cancelled, any amount paid for unshipped merchandise will be refunded promptly as required by law. Carrier transit times vary. Contact us about a missing or damaged shipment so we can investigate.

Cancellations, returns, and product issues

You may request cancellation before shipment by calling 612-234-1182 or using Contact us with your order reference. We will confirm whether the shipment can still be stopped. Cancelled, unshipped orders will not carry a cancellation fee; any payment will be refunded as required by law.

We accept returns of undamaged devices. Contact us with your order reference before sending a return so we can provide the return address and shipping instructions. Once the returned device is received and confirmed undamaged, we will refund the device purchase price to the original payment method. We will explain any shipping arrangements before you send the return. For a defect, damaged shipment, or incorrect item, contact us so we can investigate and provide an appropriate remedy; this is separate from the undamaged-device return policy. Nothing in these terms removes rights to refunds, remedies for nonconforming goods, statutory warranties, or payment disputes that applicable law gives you.

Managed salt service · version 2026-09-17-service-v1

Paid enrollment requires an approved service address and tank, and available checkout. Requesting a review does not start billing. A request, ZIP match, address approval or pending enrollment is not a paid subscription, confirmed appointment or guarantee of service. The following terms govern an enrollment once paid signup is available and you separately accept them.

Plans and separate hardware

Each subscription covers one identified tank at its approved Minnesota service address. You may have multiple pucks and separate tank subscriptions under one account, including pucks with no managed service. A Salt Puck is purchased separately for $79.99 through the hardware checkout, with its disclosed shipping and applicable tax; a compatible puck you already own does not need to be purchased again. Hardware ownership and device-only account access continue when a service subscription ends.

Annual: $180 paid upfront for 12 months, equivalent to $15 per month. This is not a monthly installment plan. The annual term begins when signup payment succeeds and does not renew automatically. A further term requires your affirmative agreement and payment. We do not offer discretionary annual-plan refunds for early cancellation or non-use; refunds and other remedies required by applicable law remain available.

Monthly: $18 charged at paid signup and automatically each month until canceled, plus applicable tax disclosed before payment. Billing starts when signup payment succeeds, not on installation day. You may cancel future renewals anytime using My salt service → Cancel future renewals for the relevant tank. Cancellation stops subsequent renewals and service continues through that tank’s displayed paid-through date. There is no cancellation fee and no discretionary prorated refund for unused days; statutory refund and other rights are preserved. You may also call 612-234-1182 or use Contact us for cancellation assistance. Cancellation of one tank does not cancel your other tanks. For an immediate stop to visits or an access change, contact us promptly; this does not create an automatic prorated refund.

What service covers

The service fee includes remote salt monitoring, normal puck installation labor, as-needed salt delivery and refill labor for the covered tank. It does not include the puck purchase, salt materials, water-softener repair, water-quality testing or replacement parts. There is no separate refill, installation-labor, delivery, fuel or mileage fee. No minimum visit frequency, unlimited urgent visits or guaranteed emergency response is promised.

Exact service ZIPs are a preliminary screen. We review the physical street address, access and route capacity before paid signup. A PO box is not a service location. Moving, changing tanks or replacing a puck can require a new review and calibration; coverage does not automatically transfer to another address. A replacement puck can be rebound to the same tank entitlement after ownership and setup checks rather than requiring a duplicate subscription.

For an active eligible tank, sustained valid low-salt readings at 25% initiate refill planning; they do not initiate a materials charge. We schedule around access, safe working conditions, stock and route availability. Offline, stale or invalid readings do not mean a tank is empty. Maintain power, connectivity, safe access and normal softener inspection. Tell us if you refill the tank yourself or change its setup. A scheduled or completed visit and a paid invoice are separate statuses.

Materials and your payment authorization

Salt is additional, charged at each completed installation or refill based on the actual quantity installed multiplied by our stored acquisition unit cost, with applicable tax. Partial quantities are prorated. No salt markup or invented default bag price is part of this offer. Non-salt parts and substitutions outside your authorization require separate approval. Multiple tanks at one stop retain separate materials records so the same salt is not charged twice.

Before enrollment, you choose an authorized salt product and a total materials spending limit including applicable tax and separately authorize storing a payment method with Stripe and charging it for authorized installed salt. Work outside that permission requires review and additional approval. You can change or withdraw permission for future visits in My salt service; this does not erase charges for materials already supplied with valid authorization. Withdrawing permission may prevent further refills until arrangements are agreed. Customer-facing totals and applicable tax are disclosed in the authorization and invoice.

After an accepted visit completion, we create the materials billing record and attempt authorized collection. Provider verification determines paid status. A decline, pending confirmation or additional authentication leaves the amount visibly unpaid or pending; a completed visit alone is not proof of payment. We provide an invoice or payment follow-up for amounts due. We do not automatically add a penalty, labor or fuel charge for a failed payment.

Service communications and records

Enrollment authorizes transactional service emails for signup confirmation, scheduling, completion and billing. Service SMS requires a separate available program and consent; it is not enabled by this enrollment. Your optional sensor-alert settings remain separate, and text opt-out does not itself cancel a subscription. Salt Puck staff use relevant address, access, tank, device and service records to perform the agreed work as described in our Privacy Policy. Keep access codes and payment details out of general notes and messages.

Appropriate installation and use

Salt Puck estimates salt levels from sensor readings and your tank settings. Estimates, usage trends, weights, and refill projections depend on installation, calibration, tank geometry, salt surface, connectivity, and other conditions. They are not a measurement of water quality or a guarantee that a softener is operating correctly. The device does not detect every salt bridge, leak, or equipment fault. Continue normal tank inspection, maintenance, and the softener manufacturer’s instructions.

Use compatible power and mounting arrangements, keep electronics out of water, and follow the device’s setup instructions. Do not use the product as a safety-critical alarm, emergency monitor, or substitute for required inspection. Stop use and contact support if the unit is damaged or behaving unexpectedly.

Automated device alerts

Optional automated email and SMS alerts are available for your enrolled puck. Enable each channel separately and choose any or all of 25%, 15%, 5%, and Empty in Account settings. Email alerts use your verified account email. Text alerts require separate consent and phone verification; see our SMS Terms of Service. Consent to texts is not a condition of purchase.

Each selected salt level normally sends once per refill cycle. When several selected levels are crossed together, the most urgent selected level is sent. Empty requires repeated valid readings. For a previously reporting, assigned puck, enabled channels also send an offline alert after 48 hours without a report and at most one reminder no sooner than three days after the first alert while the outage continues. If an outage alert was submitted to your enabled channel, we also send one connection-restored notice when reports resume. This confirms connectivity, not sensor accuracy. Reporting again resets the outage cycle.

Turn off email or text alerts independently in Account settings, or reply STOP to stop texts. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Verification and user-requested test texts are part of the SMS program. Delivery can be delayed or fail because of device connectivity, power, provider or carrier conditions; an accepted message is not proof of receipt. Alerts do not replace normal tank inspection, guarantee prevention of salt depletion, or enroll you in managed refill service.

SMS terms

Salt Puck Device Alerts / Updated September 17, 2026

Automated text alerts notify you about your enrolled puck's estimated salt level at the thresholds you select: 25%, 15%, 5%, and Empty. Choose any or all. Enabled text alerts also notify you after a previously reporting puck has not reported for 48 hours, with at most one reminder no sooner than three days after the first alert while the outage continues. If an outage alert was submitted to your enabled channel, we also send one connection-restored notice when reports resume. This confirms connectivity, not sensor accuracy. Verification codes and test texts are sent when you request them. Message frequency varies with device readings and refill activity. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase. Email and text preferences are separate.

Joining and leaving

Provide your mobile number in your signed-in account, select alert levels, check the separate text-message consent box, and request a verification text. Enter its code to enable alerts. Purchase, account creation, device enrollment and previous Ivy Services or Ivy Garage consent do not subscribe you. Once your number is verified and alerts are enabled, you can save new alert levels or your first name without repeating verification. Changing your mobile number requires verification again. A Send test text button is available for your verified, opted-in number.

Reply STOP to unsubscribe or turn off texts in account settings. Reply HELP for help, or email ryan@saltpuck.com. After a STOP request, contact support before re-enrolling. A text already submitted may still arrive. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Optional managed-service texts

Salt Puck service texts cover scheduling, visits, access issues and materials payment updates. They require their own explicit consent in My salt service, separate from sensor-alert settings. Staff coordination texts, for authorized staff only, cover assigned work and service exceptions and require separate staff consent.

Service texting is coming soon and remains disabled pending provider approval and setup. You may save a mobile number and service-text consent while sending is unavailable. Saving does not send a verification text, confirm delivery or activate service texting. Once available, use the displayed verification process; an already verified number belonging to the same account may be reused only after new service-specific consent. Prior sensor, purchase, subscription or other-brand consent is not transferred.

Service text frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is optional and not a condition of purchase. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help, or turn off service texts in My salt service. A carrier STOP may apply to messages from the shared sender, including other Salt Puck text programs; separate online service preferences do not override that STOP. Text opt-out does not cancel your service subscription, remove payment obligations or change email service updates. To cancel a plan, use its cancellation control in My salt service. Previously submitted texts may still arrive. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We retain consent, verification and message status records to operate the program and honor opt-outs. Accepted means the provider accepted a message, not that it was delivered or read. A visit can be completed while payment or messaging is still pending. Current invoice and visit status is shown in your signed-in account. Do not send door codes, passwords or card details by text.

Your readings and privacy

Each selected level normally sends once per refill cycle. If several selected levels are crossed together, only the most urgent selected alert is sent. Empty requires repeated valid readings. Offline notices describe missing reports, not an empty tank. New reports reset the outage cycle. Email alerts have separate settings and can be enabled with or without texts.

Salt estimates depend on your tank settings and sensor conditions. Delayed, missing or invalid readings do not establish an empty tank. Check your tank directly as needed. Managed service has separate enrollment and service-text consent; sensor alerts alone do not arrange a refill or enroll you in paid service.

We use your mobile number, name, consent and delivery records to provide this alert program through our messaging provider. Mobile opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers may process the information to operate and deliver the program. See our Privacy Policy.

Accounts and connected service

You must be at least 18 and authorized to place an order or manage a device. Keep your account password secure. Claim only devices you own or are authorized to manage. You are responsible for accurate settings and authorized use of your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

Connected features require suitable power, Wi-Fi, and internet access. Service interruptions, stale readings, maintenance, or provider outages may occur. Only features actually enabled in your account are available. Sensor alerts and managed refill service have separate settings, eligibility and availability; enabling alerts alone does not enroll a tank in paid service. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or lifetime cloud hosting. Material changes affecting paid commitments will be handled consistently with applicable law and those commitments. Any future paid service or recurring charge requires separate disclosure and agreement.

Acceptable use and support access

Do not attempt to access another customer’s data, bypass authentication, interfere with the service, submit malicious material, or misuse device credentials. Authorized support staff may inspect relevant account and device diagnostics and, when needed for support, adjust settings. Administrative changes are logged. We may restrict access for fraud, security threats, or material misuse, subject to applicable law and without eliminating valid purchase remedies.

Warranty and service limitations

Except for express commitments we make and warranties or rights required by law, online informational content and connected-service estimates are provided “as available.” We do not guarantee that estimates or projections will always be accurate or that the online service will be uninterrupted. This provision does not disclaim mandatory warranties on consumer goods, contradict an express product promise, or exclude remedies that cannot legally be excluded. Any separate written product warranty supplied with a purchase also applies.

Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the website or connected service, including lost profits or data. To that same extent, our aggregate liability for a claim involving those services is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected Salt Puck product and related service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be excluded for personal injury, fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, product liability, or statutory consumer remedies. They do not reduce an applicable refund obligation or a separate written warranty. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions or limits; in those places, only permitted limits apply.

Privacy, disputes, and changes

Our Privacy Policy explains information handling. Contact us first about a dispute so we can try to resolve it. Minnesota law governs these terms except where another applicable law provides mandatory protections. These terms do not require arbitration or waive access to small-claims court or other remedies required by law.

The version accepted when you submit an order governs that order unless you agree otherwise. Updated terms apply prospectively; they do not retroactively remove an existing purchase right. If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent lawful.
